Neulojat retriittissä / knitter's at a retrit

Vietin aivan mielettömän ihanan viikonlopun 39 muun neulojan kanssa Päivölössä Neuleretriitin muodossa. Nauroimme, neuloimme, opimme uusia juttuja, hipelöimme lankaa ja söimme herkkuja. Oli aivan mahtava viikonloppu!

I spend a wonderful weekend with 39 other knitters at Päivölä. We laughed, learned new things, fondled yarn and ate goodies. Altogether the weekend was awesome!

Saimme Laikan kanssa kumpikin voimakkaan Rukkikuumetartunnan, kovasti haluaisimme oman ihanaisen rukin. Muistiin painettiin Tuulian loistavat neuvot kertaamisesta: "Ensin otat eteet ja sitten vasta vedät!".

We both got a serious spinning wheel fever with Laika, we would so want a own lovely spinning wheel. We remember Tuulia's great advice: "First you push in and then you pull out!".

I attended Tuulia's class (about her topdown set-in-sleeve-method). It was so worth knitting with not-so-luxury 7-veljestä yarn since the method is awesome. I'll definately use it for several knits in the future. When you learn two new things during the first 14 stitches, the class can't bad!

Kotiin kannoin kaksi uutta opusta, aivan mielettömän ihanan Haapsalu sall-kirjan sekä lankaan vaihtamani Rowanin Denim peoplen. Ettei vaan loppuis neuleideat kesken!

I came home with two new knitting books, gorgeousos Haapsalu sall-book and Rowan denim people. So I don't run out of knitting ideas!

Ja tulihan sitä lankaakin hankittua. Kuvassa keskellä on uusin aarteeni, wollmeisen twiniä värissä raparperi. Kiitos Midorille joka tuosta luopui!

And I did get some yarn. In the middle is my new precious, wollmeise twin in color Rabarber. Thank you midori for selling it to me!

Hups.

...and here's rest of my loot. Altogether 3,5 kilos. Oops.

Altogether the weekend was probably one of the best ever. I don't remember when I've laughed so much that I can't breath and my tummy hearts. We're eagerly waiting for the next one!

(eta the linky to Tuulia's method!)

Pitsiä ja palmikkoa / Lace and cables

Sain KiiihG:ltä ravelryvaihdon viime kierroksella kaksi vyyhtiä Wetterhoffin Sivillaa ja ensimmäisestä vyyhdistä neuloontui huivi.

In the last Finnish knitters ravelryswap, I got 2 skeins of Wetterhoff Sivilla and now the first one of those has been knitted.

malli / pattern: Ishbel (ravel it)
lanka / yarn: Wetterhoff Sivilla, 50g
puikot / needles: 3,5mm

Tämä oli ensikosketukseni Sivillaan. Ihana lanka, pehmoista ja neuloontui kuin unelma. Haluan tätä(kin) ehdottomasti lisää. Suunnitelmissa on neuloa toisesta vyyhdistä Ishbelin kaveriksi myssykkä (ravelry-linkki). Ishbel oli mallina ihana neuloa, en ihmettele lainkaan miksi näitä on ravelryssä neulottuna yli kolme tuhatta.

This was my first touch with Sivilla. A wonderful yarn, soft and enjoyable to knit with. I want this (as well) definately more. I'm planning to knit a beret (rav linky) from the remaining skein to go with my shawl. The pattern was nice, I fully understand why there is over three thousand of these knitted in Ravelry.

Sitten luvattu palmikko-osuus.

And then the promised cable part.

malli / pattern: Cable rolling socks, DK winter 2009 (ravel it)
lanka / yarn: Novita 7-veljestä, 140 g
puikot / needles: 4mm

When I first saw these socks in the VK, they didn't inspire me at all but then I saw more pictures of them on Tikru's blog and I realised that these are lovely chunky socks. And since septembers theme in Sockdown is yellow and I happened to have one skein of Novita 7-veljestä in yellow, these jumped to my needles. I don't know will I keep these myself, probably I'll but them into the christmas gift stash.

A while ago found a pattern for a basic sweater and decided to buy the yarn recommended in the pattern since it was on sale at Cucumberpatch. The yarn arrived and I started knitting and so was my lovely new sweater born!

malli / pattern: Simple Summer Tweed top down v-neck (ravel it)
lanka / yarn: Rowan Summer Tweed, 460g
puikot / needles: 4 mm & 5 mm

Tästä tuli ihana pitopusero, juuri semmoinen kuin kaapista puuttui. Ja mitä kaappini kyllä tarvitsee lisää. Lanka on mukavan rouheaa ja silkki tuo siihen ihanan tuoksun.

This is just what my wardrobe needed, simple and lovely just-wear-it-sweater. I do need more sweaters like this. Summer Tweed is nicely rustic and I love the smell of silk in it.

Lisäksi olen saanut ihanaa postia! Osallistuin ravelryssä Yarn with something on the side-vaihtoon ja sain pakettini eilen. Sieltä paljastui Patons kroy stripes socksia kaksi kerää, värit ovat täydelliset ja Neil Gaimanin American gods. Lisäksi ihania pakettikortin tapaisia joita voi liittää käsintehtyihin lahjoihin. Ihana paketti!

I've also reseived some wonderful mail! I took part in Yarn with something on the side-swap in ravelry an my parcel arrived yesterday. There was some Patons kroy stripes sock yarn (in a colorway that has all of my favorite colors in it), Neil Gaiman's American gods and cute gift labels.

Ja peittotiimi kiittää kehuista!

And the blanket team thanks for all the lovely comments!

Vaikeuksien kautta voittoon! / from fail to win!

When knitter's friend has a hard time, the first thought is that the friend needs something soft and comforting. When Outi went through a rough change in life, our friend circle activated and started to think how we could make her life a bit easier. She didn't want a comfort blanket but then we remembered the bathroom rug babette we all had seen on ravelry.

So crazy knitters buy the pattern to babette blanket at IK's web site, learn to crochet in english and mess up a lot. Nobody thought that we should propably do some planning on who does what and how much and maybe someone should keep track of the already finished squares. We just decide that everyone does what they feel like doing and how much they feel like doing. As you can quess, the end result with this strategy can't be good. It wasn't this time either.

When the situation is that two of the friends live in Germany and the other five in different places in Finland and you need to ship the squares around, there is a few more reasons to be anxious. Squares from Germany do arrive but when we start making the first sketch, they are nowhere to be found. We also notice that someone (cough the writer) can't read the pattern and has been doing 3 round squares instead of 4 round squars. Laika who did the sketch, didn't know how you count rounds from a crocheted item and chaos is ready. A lot of anxiety, tears and losing your mind ensues. More squares are ordered and we can just hope the best. All this is done behind Outi's back.

On friday we did after all give Outi The Blanket which was built with love (and some rage). She can hide under it on a bad day. Pretend to be a babette monster.

Kiitän osaltani muita hulluja eli Sekkokoa, Maria, Sabdaa, Laikaa, Iinaa, Linneaa ja Markkaa! Ollaan ihania ystäviä!

I thank from my part the other crazy knitters: Sekkoko, Mari, Sabda, Laika, Iina, Linnea and Markka! We are great friends!

Laatikosta löytyvää / In the box

Villapallo showed what is in her wip box today and challenged others to do the same. So I dragged my box to the sofa and photographed what's in there!

Laatikosta löytyy vaikka mitä.

There's all sorts of things.

Sukkia. Keltainen on Sockdownin syyskuun mysteerisukan alku, ensimmäinen vihje saatiin tahkottua laikan kanssa maanantaina. Vikkeliraita meinasi nyrjäyttää miun aivot kokonaan. Pinkki sukka on pariaan odottava Propitiate.

Socks. The yellow is Sockdowns september mystery sock after first clue. The vikkel braid was almost too much for me. The pink one is Propitiate that's waiting for its pair.

These are also socks but I won't tell you more about them, they will go to Ulla's traditional knits-extra.

And then I found some shawls. Laminaria was started in march I think and has been on hold for several months now. But I will knit this.

Kevätpyörylästä on neulottu 5 vihjettä, tämäkin on ollut jäähyllä. Mutta pääsee kohta takaisin puikoille, kunhan saan ensin Ullaan menevät jutut tehtyä.

Springtime swirl has also been on hold for a while, I've knitted five clues to it. But as soon as I've done articels to Ulla, this will be back on my needles.

There was also an UFO. I started knitting this in June 2008 using Vuorelma's kampavilla. I haven't got much of it done ( as you can see from the picture), it went to the box when I realised that it would not be done in time for my cousins wedding. I don't know what will be this shawls destiny, to knit or frog it. The pattern is wonderful, I like the yarn so maybe it will done someday. Like in year 2010 or something.

Summer tweedeistä on muotoutumassa peruspusero.

Summer tweed is being knitted into a basic pullover. I like the yarn and the color a lot. With 5mm needles this is making good proggress and the body is already half done.

Viimeisimpänä laatikkoon on muuttanut tämä purotakki. Takakappale on edennyt noin puolivälin paikkeille. Tuntuu kuin puro neuloontuisi lähes itsestään, kiitos 6mm puikkojen! Tämmöisiä siis löytyy miun keskeneräisten laatikosta tällä erää.

The last cast on on the box is this cardigan. The back is about halfway done. It feels almost that the yarn is knitting itself, thanks to 6mm needles! So these you can find in my box at the moment.

Sublimen Angora merinoa. Kiitos neulojalle!

These gorgeus gloves came in the mail on monday! I don't know from who since they're from my swap partner in winter evening swap from Ravelry. Soft, warm, perfect. From Sublime angora merino. Thank you who knitted these!
